What to do

Destructive winds of 115 to 135 mph will spread across far southern Guam, producing swaths of significant to catastrophic damage, particularly to non-concrete structures. TAKE COVER NOW! The safest place to be during a major typhoon passage is in a reinforced interior room away from windows. If you are not in a fully-concrete structure, get under a table or other piece of sturdy furniture. Use mattresses, blankets or pillows to cover your head and body. Remain in place through the passage of these life-threatening conditions.

What a extreme wind warning means

Sustained winds of 115 mph (185 km/h) or more, usually from the eyewall of a major hurricane, are expected within the hour. Take shelter in an interior room as for a tornado.

Watch or warning?

A watch means conditions are right for a hazard to develop: be prepared. A warning means it is happening or about to happen: take action now. Advisories are for less serious hazards that still call for caution.
